After losing loved ones to diabetes and cancer Angelina decided she wanted to find a cure. Her research interests lie in studying the cellular mechanisms of diseases and translating this into drug discovery. Persistence, hard work and education are just some of the values she learned from her father Miguel and her cute bag from San Juan de los Lagos is a constant reminder of her family, religion, culture, and the sacrifices that were made to get her to where she now is. At the encouragement of her father and mentor Angelina continues to follow her dreams and hopes to one day obtain a doctoral degree in the biomedical field and have her own laboratory.
Angelina obtained her Bachelors in Biological Sciences from the University of California Merced and her Masters in Biology from California State University Fresno.
"The [Éxito!] summer institute has provided tips and tools to carry me on my path as a researcher. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to attend the program and for setting up all the activities and presentations," said Angelina.
